Disassembling the Battery

Risk of injury due to the weight of the battery components
Injuries may result if the battery components are lifted incorrectly or dropped while being transported or installed.
• Transport and lift the battery components carefully. Take the weight of each individual component into account.
• Transport battery components individually only.
• Wear suitable personal protective equipment, at a minimum safety footwear with a non-slip sole and steel cap,
for all work on the battery.
To decommission a battery cabinet completely upon completion of its service life, disassemble it as described in the
following.
Requirements:
☐ All connections in the battery cabinet are disconnected.
☐ Original packaging or packaging suitable for the weight and dimensions of the battery cabinet is available.
☐ Original packaging or packaging suitable for the weight and dimensions of the battery management system is
available.
☐ Original packaging or packaging suitable for the weight and dimensions of the battery modules is available.
☐ Euro pallet for battery cabinet, battery management system, and battery modules are available.
☐ Mounting material for attaching the packaging on the Euro pallets is available (e.g., tie-down straps).
Procedure:
1. On the uppermost battery module, loosen the bolted connections of the four cage nuts (PH2).
2. Pull the uppermost battery module out of the battery cabinet. Move the battery module carefully so the cage nuts
do not fall down.
3. On the battery module, check whether the shock sensor on the
front of the battery module has tripped. Tripping of the shock
sensor is indicated by a red color in the indication panel.
4. If the shock sensor on a battery module has tripped, document the battery module condition using photographs
and contact Service.
5. If the battery module is to be stored or shipped, place it in packaging. Use the original packaging or packaging
that is suitable for the weight and dimensions of the battery module for this.
6. Disassemble the rest of the batteries, working from the top to the bottom. Proceed as described for the first battery
module.
7. On the battery management system, loosen the bolted connections of the four cage nuts (PH2).
8. Pull the battery management system out of the battery cabinet. Move the battery management system carefully so
the cage nuts do not fall down.
