Memory Module Replacement
Required Tools and Supplies
Anti-static wrist strap and conductive workbench pad (recommended)

Procedure Prerequisites
Memory modules are NOT hot-swappable. The system must be powered down and unplugged from

the AC power source before replacing a faulty memory module from the system.
DIMMs are referred as "memory module" in the following instructions.

1. Power off the system and disconnect the system power cords.
2. Remove the system top cover (see
3. Remove the air duct (see
4. Identify and locate the memory module to be replaced.
5. Ensure that the ejection tabs of adjacent memory module slots are closed.
6. Open the memory ejection tabs at both ends of the selected memory slot (see Letter A). The memory
module lifts slightly from the slot.
7. Holding the memory module by its edges, lift it away from the slot (see Letter B).
