3.5" Drive Bays

System configurations with support for 3.5" drives include twelve drive bays. To support essential system
airflow requirements, all front drive bays must be populated with a drive or supplied drive blank.
A drive or drive blank is mounted to a 3.5" drive carrier. Drive carriers are removed from the drive bay to
service a drive.
The following figure identifies the 3.5" drive bay components.
This section provides procedures for drive extraction from the drive bay, 3.5" HDD assembly, 2.5" 7mm SSD
assembly, and drive installation into the drive bay.
3.6.2.1 3.5" Drive Carrier Removal
1. Press the button to release the drive extraction lever (see Letter A).
2. Pull the driver carrier from the drive bay (see Letter B).
