Upgrading an 8 x 2.5" Front Drive Configuration to a 24 x 2.5" Front Drive
Configuration
The front drive bay of the server system is divided into three 8-drive bays; Bay 1 (left), Bay 2 (center), and Bay
3 (right). To upgrade an 8-drive system to a 24-drive system, backplanes and drive rails must be added to
Drive Bays 1 and 3, and appropriate cabling must be routed to each new backplane.
The following figures show the front view of 8 x 2.5" and 24 x 2.5" front drive bay configurations.
Required Tools and Supplies
Two Intel 8x2.5" Backplane Accessory Kits–(iPC) CYPHSBP2208
Two Intel 2.5" Drive Rail Accessory Kits – (iPC) CYP25HSCARRIER
Anti-static wrist strap and conductive workbench pad (recommended)
