5.6.3.1
Find Home
The Find Home function (see OR command) moves to find the positioner's Home signal. The
controller executes a unique sequence of motion in order to locate and finally stop the
positioner at a repeatable position. The repeatability precision will depend mostly on the
repeatability of the Home switch itself. It is not unusual for a Home only signal (with no
Index) to be repeatable to within 20 encoder counts (e.g., 8310-V actuator).
The Home signal state (High or Low) at the time the Find Home command is received tells the
controller which direction to first move toward in order to find the signal transition.
NOTE: The Find Home function is compatible with 8310-V Picomotor positioner.
5.6.3.2
Find Index
The Find Index function (see MZ command) moves to find the positioner's next Index signal.
The controller executes a unique sequence of motion in order to locate and finally stop the
positioner at a repeatable position. The repeatability precision will depend mostly on the
repeatability of the Index signal. It is not unusual for an Index signal to be repeatable to within
4 encoder counts (e.g., 8410 rotary stage).
The Index signal is a momentary pulse captured during motion. Unlike with Find Home, the
Find Index function requires that the user tell the controller which direction to travel in order to
find the next Index signal pulse.
NOTE: The Find Index function is compatible with 8410 Picomotor rotary positioner.
5.6.3.3
Find Limit
The Find Limit function (see MT command) moves to find the positioner's travel limit. The
controller executes a unique sequence of motion in order to locate and finally stop the
positioner at a repeatable limit position. The repeatability precision will depend mostly on the
repeatability of the limit switch itself. It is not unusual for a Limit signal to be repeatable to
within 20 encoder counts (e.g., 8310 and 8310-V actuators).
Positioners with Limit signals typically have a negative and positive travel limit. Hence, the
Find Limit function requires that the user tell the controller which limit (positive or negative) to
find so the controller can move in that direction.
NOTE: The Find Limit function is compatible with 8310 and 8310-V positioners.
