Chapter 5 Alarms

Alarm Indicator Self-Test

The ZOLL M2 unit performs a self-test of the audible and visual alarm indicators upon start up.
To ensure that the alarms are functioning properly, verify that you hear an alarm tone and the
indicator lights are illuminated for three seconds upon start up of the unit.

Patient Alarm Display

When a patient's vital signs measurements trigger an alarm, in addition to an alarm tone and the
illumination of indicator lights, the ZOLL M2 unit displays an alarm text message in the status/
alarm message field, and changes the display characteristics of the monitoring function's
numeric display (the alarming parameter appears in red text with white background).
