1. Lower mower conditioner fully, shut down mower
conditioner and tractor, and remove key.
2. Loosen jam nut (A) on both sides of conditioner.
3. Turn the spring drawbolt (B) clockwise to tighten
spring (C) and increase roll tension.
4. Turn the spring drawbolt (B) counterclockwise to
loosen spring (C) and decrease roll tension.
5. Measure the amount of exposed thread on the spring
drawbolt (B) at each end of the conditioner.
measurement (D) should be 1/2–9/16 in. (12–15 mm)
for both polyurethane and steel roll conditioners.
IMPORTANT:
Turn each bolt equal amounts. Each turn of the
bolt changes the roll tension by approximately
7.2 lbf (32 N).
6. Tighten jam nuts (A) on both sides.

3.15.8 Roll Timing

For proper conditioning, the rolls must be properly timed with the bar on one roll centered between two bars on the
other roll. The factory setting should be suitable for most crop conditions.
IMPORTANT:
Roll timing on is critical when the roll gap is decreased
because conditioning is affected, and the bars may
contact each other.

Checking Roll Timing

DANGER
To avoid bodily injury or death from unexpected startup of machine, always stop engine and remove key
from ignition before leaving operator's seat for any reason.
