After activating the "CENTER" function and positioning the scanning pattern correctly,
operate the P2 arrow button (Fig. 6.11) to exit the CENTER mode.
The "center" function remains activated for the current scanning pattern as long as none of
the parameters "FIGURE SIZE", "FIGURE" (i.e. pattern type) or "HANDPIECE" is changed.
The activated "center" function is indicated by "CENTER ON".
Selecting another scanning pattern, a different pattern size or another handpiece
automatically deactivates the "center" function and the beam returns to its central mid-
position. At the same time, "CENTER" is marked "OFF" on the display. The "center" function
is retained, however, if the "CYCLE" function is activated, even though the contents of the
D5 field changes as a result of such activation (see section 6.6.7).
ENERGY DENSITY
The D7 field (see Fig. 6.7) automatically shows the energy density in mJ/cm
calculated from the following parameters: laser power, scanning speed and focus diameter
(or focal length or handpiece used). The energy density is an important factor for the
laser's impact on the tissue. Changing the size of the scanning pattern has no influence on
the selected energy density! In other words, the tissue impact of the laser beam remains
exactly the same when you select a different pattern size. How – and across what ranges –
the energy density can be adjusted is shown in Table 6.5 below.
