MCO25plus Operating Instructions
CENTER
Provided a scanner has been connected, the MCO25plus offers users the option of
centering or decentering the selected scanning pattern. This function is especially useful
when working with the MICROPOINT micromanipulator, as it is essential in this case to
position the scan pattern precisely in the center of the surgical field via the optical system.
Besides, the "center" function can also be useful in conjunction with special instruments
(e.g. laparoscopes).
The scanner allows you to adjust the scanning pattern's position under visual control. The
procedure is as follows: Use the SELECT button (P1, Fig. 6.10) to highlight the "CENTER"
menu item (D5, Fig. 6.10), then activate it with the arrow button (P3, Fig. 6.10). This sets
the "CENTER" function to "ON" (see D5, Fig. 6.11). Using the buttons F1, F2, C1 and C2
(Fig. 6.11), you can now move the scanning pattern in four different directions (arranged
vertically to each other). However, pattern shifts are limited to the area covered by the
largest pattern. In practical terms, therefore, it only makes sense to use the CENTER
function for patterns that are significantly smaller than the maximum pattern size available.
The direction in which the scanning pattern actually moves when you operate F1, F2, C1 or
C2 depends on the position of the laser and the articulated mirror arm relative to the
position of the micromanipulator and therefore cannot be determined in advance. F1 and
C2, as well as F2 and C1, move the scanning figure in opposite directions, whereas F2 and
C2, as well as F1 and C1, move it vertically to each other.
