After establishing the electric connection, the scanner cable must be properly installed along
the articulated mirror arm. Press the cable into the fastening clips (6, Fig. 6.4) provided on the
first arm. On the second arm, the scanner cable and the irrigation gas tubing need to be
secured in place together with Velcro straps (7, Fig. 6.4). The flexible irrigation gas tube must
be connected to connector 9 (Fig. 6.4) on the scanner handpiece and to connector 2 (Fig. 6.4)
on the laser side.
After all connections (scanner and scanner cable) have been correctly made, the laser can be
turned on.

Articulated Mirror Arm for Scanner Operation

To account for the higher weight of the scanner (compared with other handpieces), the higher
preload option must be selected on the articulated arm (lever set to "scanner" position). To
this end, relieve the arm by pulling it towards you, then rotate lever 1 (Fig. 6.5) to the
"unlocked" position and swing the arm a little backwards so that lever 2 (Fig. 6.5) can be
turned to the "scanner" position. Now pull the arm forwards again against the spring resistance
and lock arm again by setting lever 1 (Fig. 6.6) to the "locked" position. The mirror arm has
now the correct spring load required for scanner operation (Fig. 6.6).
