3.5.10. FAT/FBF & ESPA444 Settings Menus
This a special menu for selection a communication protocol type, according the connected devices for interface PCB of
iRIS8 fire alarm panel. Enter PANEL – FAT/FBF&ESPA444 menu.
3.5.10.1. FAT/FBF (RS232 Communication Protocol)
The iRIS8 addressable fire alarm panel can be used in systems for announcing a fire brigade unit for a fire alarm
situation in the protected site. Such systems are mainly used in Germany, as the fire panel is connected to FAT/FBF
(Fire Brigade indication panel with integrated Fire Brigade operation panel) type control panels via standard serial
interface RS232.
The general system configuration, according the German standards, includes: Fire alarm panel, FAT/FBF control panel,
Dialer - (GSM, GPRS, PSTN or similar transmission equipment), key safe and adapter box for the key safe.
The connections between iRIS8 fire panel and the adapter box for key safe, and the Dialer are realized using the
addressable modules with inputs and outputs (MIO22, MIO22M, MOUT, MINP, MIO04, MIO40), as for the outputs can
be used also the panel's programmable relay outputs. The settings are described in the following screens.
Select the communication protocol and confirm with
APPLY button. Press MORE button to access the menu
for setting the inputs/outputs operation between iRIS8 and
FAT/FBF control panel.
Every input or output is specified with:
Periphery
Device
Channel
Attention: The used inputs and outputs for management and control of FAT/FBF control panel cannot be used
for other operation in the system. If a channel number is set in this menu, but it does not present or is used for
another operation, the system will alert about that with message "N/A" (Not Applicable) at the end of the row. It is
recommended to check in advance which inputs/outputs are free and available for FAT/FBF management.
Set the periphery device address. The address is programmed in the PERIPHERY column.
Here the installer enters the address of the periphery device (Loop expander – addresses 3-
10, OUT module – address 2, see also item 3.2.1) to which the device with input/output is
physically connected. The addresses of the periphery devices are programmed
automatically with the first initial power-up of the system.
Set the loop device address. In the DEVICE column, the installer enters the address of the
loop device with inputs/outputs (MIO22, MIO22M, MOUT, MINP, MIO04, MIO40).
Note that, when the OUT outputs relay module is used the buttons in this column remain
inactive. The actual address of the loop device can be checked at menu System-
Programming-Devices-Loop.
In this column the installer enters a number of a free channel (input or output according the
option), as the number depends on the type of the used loop device. For example, in
SensoIRIS MIO-22 module, the inputs are displayed as Channel 1 - Input 1, Channel 2 -
Input 2, and the outputs as Channel 3 - Output 1 and Channel 4 - Output 2. See the
programming of addressable input/output module in item 3.2.8.10.
iRIS8 - Addressable Fire Alarm Panel – Installer Programming
The available communication protocols are listed, as
the installer can set only one of them. The selected
protocol has to be confirmed with APPLY button.
For FAT/FBF (RS232 protocol) are available additional
settings after pressing button MORE.
Note: RS485 Communication protocol is not available for
use in iRIS8 for versions 1.0.8 and lower.
The table represents set for operation CHANNELS
(inputs/outputs) of a loop device and/or periphery device
used for communication with FAT/FBF panel.
Press APPLY button to save all introduced changes.
