Power-Assisted Steering Pump and Related Components
d.
Thread the pulley pusher nut onto the pulley pusher shaft.
NOTE: The spacer is designed to keep the bearing centered on the tool.

Thread the pulley pusher shaft and nut onto the pulley pusher stud (threaded into the power‑assisted steering pump
shaft).
f.
Turn the pulley pusher nut until the face of the power‑assisted steering pulley is 0.210" from edge of shaft.
NOTE: Press the pulley as shown with the end of the shaft.
3.
Remove the tool and install the serpentine drive belt. Refer to Section 1C ‑ Serpentine Drive Belt.

Steering Pump Assembly Removal

Performing service or maintenance without first disconnecting the battery can cause product damage, personal injury, or
death due to fire, explosion, electrical shock, or unexpected engine starting. Always disconnect the battery cables from the
battery before maintaining, servicing, installing, or removing engine or drive components.
Disconnecting or connecting the battery cables in the incorrect order can cause injury from electrical shock or can damage
the electrical system. Always disconnect the negative (‑) battery cable first and connect it last.
1.
Disconnect both battery cables from the battery. Be certain to disconnect the negative (–) cable first.
2.
Remove the steering pump pulley. Refer to Power‑Assisted Steering Pump Pulley—Removal.
Discharge of oil, coolant, or other engine/drive fluids into the environment is restricted by law. Use caution not to spill oil,
coolant, or other fluids into the environment when using or servicing your boat. Be aware of the local restrictions governing
the disposal or recycling of waste, and contain and dispose of fluids as required.
3.
Drain the fluid from the steering pump assembly:
a.
Allow the fluid to cool. Remove the power‑assisted steering pump reservoir cap and dipstick.
b.
Remove the high‑pressure hose and the return hose from the power‑assisted steering pump.
