After cleaning the engine block, spray or wipe the cylinder bores and the machined surfaces with clean engine oil.

Inspect the following areas:
a.
Coolant jackets for cracks.
b.
Cylinder bores for scratches or gouging.
c.
Valve lifter bores for excessive scoring or wear.
d.
Threaded holes for damage.
e.
Crankshaft bearing webs for cracks.
f.
Crankshaft bearing caps and the crankshaft bearing bores for damage.
g.
Engine block core hole plug bores for damage.
h.
Engine block for cracks or damage.
i.
Engine mount bosses for damage.

Cylinder Reconditioning

NOTE: The effectiveness of cylinder reconditioning depends upon engine condition at time of repair.
