The SMI master module can be on fieldbus couplers in fieldbus coupler mode
and on controllers in fieldbus coupler mode or in full mode.
Fieldbus coupler mode offers the following functions:
• Digital input
• 1-button operation/construction site mode
• Forced position
• 2-button operation
• Shutter and slat positioning
• Controller locking
• Energy saving mode
• Local bus failure monitoring
• Controller failure monitoring
• Power failure monitoring
• Automatic addressing
• Auto-Replace
Full mode offers the following functions:
• All fieldbus coupler mode functions
• System expansion
• Logging
• System image readout
• Extended SMI instruction set

Fieldbus Coupler Mode

Fieldbus coupler mode is the default state for the SMI master module and
enables control of the SMI drives via a cyclic process image without PLC
programming. Command values and changes to bits in the process image are
converted to SMI commands directly.
WAGO SMI Configurator software is available to parameterize the SMI master
module.
