The SMI master module is used to control Standard Motor Interface (SMI) drives
indoors and outdoors, e.g., for blinds, and is used specifically in building
automation.
The SMI master module 753-1630 can operate up to 16 SMI drives via the SMI
interface on a 750 Series WAGO fieldbus node. The SMI master module is
designed for SMI drives that operate at a supply voltage of 110 V to 240 VAC.
The SMI master module has a DC input acc. IEC 61131-2, Type 1. When setting
the parameters, the input can be assigned a specific function, e.g., triggering
travel commands via an external button (1-button operation) or moving to a
forced position.
The SMI master module has a short-circuit-protected 24 VDC output acc.
IEC 61131-2 with a rated current of 0.5 A. The output is used to control shutdown
logic for energy saver mode. The load to be switched must be connected to the
0V potential of the field supply.
Assigning the connections is described in the "Connections" section.
Connection examples are given in the section "Connecting Devices" > ... >
"Connection Examples".
The 753-1630 SMI master module receives the 24 V power supply and 0 V
potential for the field level from an upstream I/O module or fieldbus
coupler/controller via the power contacts used as blade contacts. It then provides
this potential to subsequent I/O modules.
The 24 VDC required for operating SMI drives is not supplied by the SMI master
module, but must be executed separately.
A green status LED indicates the operating status and error-free I/O module
communication.
Red error LEDs display the status of the field-side power supply and the
presence of a general error.
Other LEDs provide information on diagnostic states.
The meaning of the LEDs is described in section "Display Elements".
An IEC 61131-3 function block library and "WAGO SMI Configurator" software
are available for commissioning, configuration and maintenance of the SMI
master module and attached SMI drives.
Shading applications can be implemented with the IEC 61131-3 function block
library.
