2.8 Device configuration
Subcomponents of a SINUMERIK MC
A SINUMERIK MC comprises the following integrated subcomponents:
● PLC
● CP
● NC
These subcomponents are always a fixed component of a SINUMERIK MC, and can only be
handled in combination with the MC. Subcomponents cannot be individually pasted, copied or
moved in the project or across projects (e.g. in libraries).
Note
Copying and pasting the MC or the DP master system
You can copy and paste an MC within a project. For this purpose, switch to the network view
or to the topology view of the project view.
When you copy an MC, all the integrated subcomponents are also copied.
PC system
The PC system is a fixed component of an MC. It is created together with the MC and
automatically connected to the CP.
To use the customized interfaces, install the WinCC RT Advanced provided on the PC system.
You can configure and adapt the operating area for specific customers.
The PC system is configured separately from the configuration of the MC subcomponents.
Note
You also perform compilation and loading separately for MCU 1720 and for the PC system.
Supported drive systems
Only external drive systems can be used when operating the SINUMERIK MC. There are 2
versions:
● SINUMERIK MC with SINAMICS S120
● SINUMERIK MC with SINAMICS S210
