ModuLab XM ECS Electrochemical System: Installation Guide
2.1
THE APPROACH TO SYSTEM ASSEMBLY
This chapter describes how to assemble a ModuLab XM ECS System so that it is
capable of running experiments and is ready for the installation tests. The system
comprises a range of modules mounted in a 4-slot or 8-slot chassis and is
controlled via Ethernet from a suitable PC running the ModuLab XM ECS
software.
The system assembly involves the following stages:
Section 2.2, Installing the ModuLab XM ECS system.
Section 2.3, Configuring the PC Ethernet Interface.
Section 2.4, Installing the ModuLab XM ECS software.
Section 2.5, Installing the modules in the chassis
Section 2.6, Connecting the Ethernet.
Section 2.7, Checking the system communications.
When building up the ModuLab XM system, you should always start with the
simplest configurations first, consisting of a PC connected directly to a single
ModuLab XM chassis, which may contain multiple modules, and there should be
no external boosters or other external devices. When you are sure that the basic
system is working correctly, then you can start building a more complex system
consisting of multiple chasses, external units, and connections to corporate
networks.
Section 2.8 describes the manual addition of equipment, within the ModuLab
XM software, in case the system fails to recognise it automatically.
Section 2.9 describes some advanced setup procedures for complex systems.
When the assembly is complete, the system will be ready for the Installation Tests.
