Replacing the Wash Pump Tubing

Routine maintenance of the autosampler includes replacement of the wash
pump tubing. Because of the operating nature of the wash pump, the
tubing will probably be the most frequently replaced item on the Agilent
SPS 4 autosampler. If you use strong bases, acids, or solvents as rinsing
agents, the tubing may break down rapidly.

To replace the wash pump tubing, complete the following steps:
1 Shutdown and unplug the autosampler.
2 Release the pressure plate by disengaging the occlusion arm.
3 Remove the old tubing, and replace the pump tubing.
4 Install new tubing following the instructions in
• Keep delivery and suction lines as short as possible.

• Run at a slow speed when pumping viscous fluids.
• Use the largest bore tube running at a slow speed for the longest tube life.
