4.1.6 Function and activation of acoustic mode after successful calibration

Acoustic mode is activated by briefly pressing the T button.
After calibration is complete, acoustic mode helps the technician to determine if the patient
reaches the switching points exactly or if an unintentional load on the orthosis (due to incorrect
patient movements or the need to optimise the orthosis structure) prevents the joint from unlocking
and locking. In parallel to controlling the joint, switching processes of the electronics are also
confirmed by an audible tone.

4.1.7 Electronic unlocking (one-time)

With the lower button C, the patient can unlock the joint one time (e.g., to sit down). In order to
do so, he briefly presses button C twice in quick succession (like double-clicking a computer
mouse). This function is not confirmed by an audible signal.

4.1.8 Electronic locking (permanent)

If the patient feels unsafe, he can lock the joint using the top button B. This may be the case
when walking on a slope or if the patient wants to stand up for an extended period of time wi-
thout focusing on the electronic control unit. In order to do so, he briefly presses button B twice
in quick succession (like double-clicking a computer mouse). This function is confirmed by an
audible signal.
The locking function is deactivated by pressing the upper button twice in quick succession until
you hear an audible signal.

4.1.9 Mechanical unlocking (temporary)

For certain activities (e.g. bicycling), it may be expedient to temporarily unlock the E-MAG Active
joint. Mechanical unlocking of the system is done directly on the knee joint (switch to „
In order to restore the functionality of the E-MAG Active joint, cancelling the unlocking feature is
required. In order to secure the system again, the switch is operated again in the opposite direc-
tion. The normal state of the joint is indicated by the symbol of a walking person (switch to „
CAUTION
Risk of falling due to unlocking / locking. Both permanent and one-time unlocking as well as per-

functions while walking.

The "Battery low" warning reports that battery capacity is low. If the battery is not replaced, the
warning is repeated after each status signal. The electronics turn off if the supply of electricity
is insufficient. In this case, the knee joint can also be unlocked manually.
