5 Maintenance instructions

INFORMATION
Regular maintenance is essential in order to retain functionality. No structural changes may be made
to the system!
INFORMATION
Converting the E-MAG Active into an E-MAG Control and vice versa may only be performed by an
authorised Ottobock Service Centre.
CAUTION
Risk of falling due to use of grease (or other lubricants). This could contaminate the joint and jam
the lock. The bearing washers and joint locking mechanism should never be lubricated.
The charger may only be used in dry rooms.
With complex electronic systems such as the E-MAG Active, regular maintenance is indispensable
in order to retain proper, safe functionality. This also significantly extends the life of the system.
Please note that the orthosis must be inspected for functionality and signs of wear every six
months, that the bearing washer and bushing may need to be replaced and that the effective-
ness of the locking function and electronics must be verified (e.g. visual inspection of cables).
The joint connection (bushing and pin) is lubricant-free. If necessary, the joint mechanism should
be protected against dirt with suitable protective devices (e.g. joint protectors) in order to ensure
proper joint functionality.

Use the maintenance schedule (see Section 5.3) as a template for making copies. Retain com-
pleted maintenance schedules as part of your documentation and advise the customer of the
need for regular maintenance.
INFORMATION
You should be sure to record the serial number of the E-MAG case. It is used for verification of warranty
eligibility and ensuring the proper electronic components identification.
