5.2 Faults or defects of electronic components

NOTICE
Risk of short-circuit. Never open electronic parts. Should an electronic component be defective, send
the entire electronic component to your service technician and have it exchanged for a 17B202=S
Service Set
.
If problems occur with electronic components but you are unable to clearly identify the defective
part, you have the option of ordering a 17B202=S Service Set that contains a full set of matching
electronics. This can be used to replace the original electronics in an existing orthosis until the
original electronics are repaired.
Outside the warranty period, the 17B202=S Service Set is subject to a rental fee.
When sending the E-MAG Active for service, please be sure to include all of the following com-
ponents:
Electronics, battery, charger and case with serial number.
Section 3.2 "Casing" describes how to remove and reinstall the individual components.

5.2.1 System does not initialise properly

If the system does not initialise properly, remove the battery, wait 30 seconds and reinsert it.
Should the system still fail to initialise, this indicates a problem with the electronics. Check the
cable system and contacts. Reinsert the battery. If the system still fails to initialise, replace the
electronics with a service set.

5.2.2 Fault in the electronics

If a continuous light and/or tone indicates a fault, follow the steps as described in Section 5.2.1.
Inform the orthosis wearer that the electronics must be replaced immediately once a fault occurs.

5.2.3 Lock does not engage

If the lock of the E-MAG Active does not engage, check the following:
1. The structure of the orthosis, e.g. if the orthosis wearer reaches the required extension.
2. The bearing shells and bearing bushings for wear or dust particles inside the joint.
If neither inspection reveals the cause of the problem, replace the E-MAG Active with a service set.
