CAUTION
Walking down stairs and ramps
Falling due to unexpected, high stance phase damping during the transition from a level surface
to stairs or ramps.
► Pay attention to the changed product behaviour.
► Verify changed stance phase damping before walking on stairs or ramps.
CAUTION
Overheating of the hydraulic unit due to uninterrupted, increased activity (e.g. extended
walking downhill)
> Falling due to product malfunction caused by overheating of the hydraulic unit
> Hydraulic unit defects with associated leakage of liquid.
> Burns due to touching overheated components
► Observe the recurring beep signals emitted by the product. They indicate the risk of over­
heating.
► Immediately after these beep signals commence, activity must be reduced so the hydraulic
unit can cool down.
► Full activity may be resumed after the beep signals stop.
If the activity is not reduced after recurring beep signals commence, this may lead to over­

heating of the hydraulic unit and damage to the product in extreme cases. In this case, the
product should be inspected by an authorised Ottobock Service Centre.
4.10 Notes on the safety modes
CAUTION
Safety mode not activated
Falling due to altered damping behaviour because of failure to activate safety mode (e.g. in case
of short circuit due to water penetration).
► Contact your orthopaedic technician immediately.
► If possible, actively secure the heel strike with the residual musculature until reaching the
orthopaedic technician.
CAUTION
Safety mode cannot be deactivated
Falling due to unexpected product behaviour because of changed damping behaviour.
► If you cannot deactivate safety mode by recharging the battery, a permanent malfunction has
occurred.
► Do not continue using the defective product.
► The product must be inspected by an authorised Ottobock Service Centre.
CAUTION
Safety signal occurs (ongoing beep signal)
Falling due to unexpected product behaviour because of changed damping behaviour.
► Observe the warning/error signals (see Page 63).
► After the safety signal has been emitted, further use of the product is prohibited.
The product must be inspected by an authorised Ottobock Service Centre.
