INFORMATION
Regularly check the O-rings for any wear and tear and have them replaced by a prosthetist if
necessary.
2.4.2 Free Swing Position
To reach the free swing position, perform the reverse sequence of movements from the locked
position. The patient leans forward, bows his/her torso laterally, and moves to the upright position.
Now the shoulder joint is released for the free swing function.
The swinging behaviour of the prosthesis significantly influences the gait pattern of the patient. It
is individually adapted to the patient by adjusting the friction of the shoulder joint.
The free swing friction can be adjusted by turning the cap screw in or out (Fig. 5, arrow). Turning
the cap screw in will increase free swing dampening.
INFORMATION
The cap screw (Fig. 5, arrow) must not be removed under any circumstances. Apply Loctite®
241 (Article number 636K13) to the cap screw and turn the screw in until the rotation axis of
the shoulder joint exhibits noticeable friction. Make sure that the cap screw never protrudes
out of the countersink.
The amount of friction can be adjusted at any time through turning the cap screw. Apply Loctite®
241 (article number 636K13) to the cap screw after each adjustment.
