NOTICE
Damage of O-ring due to improper assembly. Make sure that there is no contact between
the O-ring and socket when mounting the shoulder joint. O-ring friction against the socket may
lead to inadmissible wear of the O-ring.
1) Mount the shoulder bracket to the shoulder joint with the enclosed oval head screws. Position
the mounted shoulder joint on the patient (Fig. 6).
Left body half see Fig. 7, right body half see Fig. 8.
2) Adjust the shoulder bracket arm on the socket by bending using the Bending Iron 711S5 or
711S4. See Fig. 9 for an example.
3) Mark mounting holes for shoulder joint on the socket. If the ⌀ 1mm holes are required, they
must be bored up to ⌀ 4.2mm.
4) Dismantle the shoulder bracket from the shoulder joint.
5) Attach the shoulder bracket to the socket (Fig. 10).
6) Mark the positions of the four mounting holes on the socket (Fig. 11). Remove the shoulder
bracket.
7) Bore up the marked locations on the socket with a ⌀ 8 mm drill. The bores are used to access
to the oval head screws. This allows the shoulder joint to be dismantled from the shoulder
bracket at any time.
8) Attach the shoulder bracket to the socket. Attach the shoulder joint to the shoulder bracket
with four oval head screws M4 × 12 and tighten them to a max. torque of 2 Nm. Secure the
screws by applying Loctite® 241 (636K13)! (Fig. 12).
INFORMATION
While attaching the shoulder bracket, make sure it is in contact with the socket in the location
of the four mounting holes.
9) Apply the Ottobock Special Lubricant 633G6 onto the contact surfaces of the O-ring (Fig. 13)
and mount the O-ring.
10) We recommend covering the shoulder joint with a removable cosmetic to prevent the special
lubricant from soiling the patient's clothing.
HINWEIS
Damage of electrode cable due to improper assembly. Damage of electrode cable due to
improper assembly. Make sure that the electrode cable is not kinked or pinched. The electrode
cable must be installed so that it is guided over the shoulder joint.
4.2  Replacing the O-rings
When the O-rings of the shoulder joint show signs of wear, they must be replaced using the 13D1
O-ring set (Fig. 14) and according to the following instructions:
1) Cut through the porous O-rings (Fig. 15) and dispose of them (Fig. 16).
2) Use Allen wrenches suitable to the screws (Fig. 17).
3) If necessary, warm the glued screw connections using a hot air gun to facilitate removal of
the previously used adhesive.
