Making Your Own Cable

.

Overview

SmartPort

UniSite-xpi User Manual
You will need one 25-pin RS-232C serial cable for each piece of
equipment you will connect to the programmer.
Normally, when you connect equipment to a programmer, you must
match Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) to Data Communications
Equipment (DCE).
The programmer is compatible with both types of equipment and
automatically configures the Terminal and Remote ports to be compatible
with the equipment connected to it.
If you are not sure what type of equipment you have, don't worry. The
programmer's SmartPort feature will automatically toggle between the
two types until a connection is established. For now, just connect the
cables. If you don't have 25-pin serial cables, or if you are not sure if they
will work, you can use the cabling diagrams below to build your own
cable.
