IP Settings Fields
The fields in the IP Settings section provide a location for viewing and editing settings unique
to the Ethernet interface. After editing any of the settings on this page, click the Submit
button at the bottom of the section.
Unit Name field
The Unit Name field contains the name used as the "from" information when the DXP
e-mails notification of its failed or repaired status. You can change this name field to any
valid name, up to 24 alphanumeric characters.
NOTE: The following characters are invalid or not recommended in the matrix name:
+ ~ , @ = ` [ ] { } < > ' ' " " ; : | \ and ?.
DHCP radio buttons
The DHCP On radio button directs the switcher to ignore any entered IP addresses and to
obtain its IP address from a DHCP server (if the network is DHCP capable).
The DHCP Off radio button turns DHCP off.
Contact your local system administrator for the setting for this control.
IP Address field
The IP Address field contains the IP address of the connected DXP. This value is encoded
in the switcher flash memory.
Valid IP addresses consist of four 1-, 2-, or 3-digit numeric sub-fields separated by periods.
Each field can be numbered from 000 through 255. Leading zeros, up to 3 digits total per
field, are optional. Values of 256 and above are invalid.
The factory-installed default address is 192.168.254.254, but if this conflicts with other
equipment at your installation, you can change the IP address to any valid value.
NOTE: IP address changes can cause conflicts with other equipment. Only local system
administrators should change IP addresses.
Gateway IP Address field
The Gateway IP Address field identifies the address of the gateway (to the mail server) to
be used if the switcher and the mail server are not on the same subnet.
The gateway IP address has the same validity rules as the system IP address (see "IP
Address field
).
"
Subnet Mask field
The Subnet Mask field is used to determine whether the switcher is on the same subnet as
the mail server when you are subnetting (see
information).
The subnet mask address has the same validity rules as the system IP and gateway IP
addresses.
MAC Address field
The Media Access Control (MAC) address is hard coded in the switcher and cannot be
changed.
