How to deactivate/activate the InLine interface*/the external con-
trol*
Older X-ray inspection units integrated into a baggage handling line or equipped with safety switches* at the
conveyor ends and/or tunnel entrances and exits (conveyor end or oversize detectors* - option InLine vari-
ant Start/Stop) provide the additional menu item InLine - control and interface or External control. In this
menu you can deactivate the exchange of signals between the X-ray unit and the baggage handling line or the
safety switches.
The external control being deactivated, the X-ray unit will behave like a standard unit, i.e. the conveyor can be
switched on independently from the running of feed or discharge conveyors, safety switches are without
function. If, e.g., the X-ACT system* is to be calibrated on older units, you have to deactivate the interface/the
external control first. On newer units a calibration without deactivating the external control is possible.

Warning!
For the feed or discharge conveyors and the conveyor of the X-ray unit can run in opposite directions
when the external control is deactivated, this can lead to a high risk of crushing between the convey-
or belts! See to it that nobody comes near the conveyors and reactivate the external control as soon
as possible!
In case of deactivated conveyor end or oversize detectors baggage or freight items can fall off the
conveyors or get stuck at the tunnel entrances or exits!
 Go to the menu item InLine - control and
interface*/External control* in the Main menu and
activate this menu item. The menu illustrated beside

 To deactivate the interface/the external control, select the setting Interface inactive/Ext. control inactive
under the item Interface variant.

 If the interface/the external control is to be reactivated,
e.g. after calibration, carry out the steps mentioned
above and select the setting Start/Stop (Ext. start/stop
signals active) under Variant.
