How to calibrate* the HI-SCAN X-ray unit

You must run the calibration of the material detection of the HI-SCAN unit once per month, if it is
equipped with the X-ACT system* (F 2-39).
If the monthly calibration was not performed or if you have changed the assignment of the views to
the monitors on a dual view unit* (F 2-33), you must carry out a complete calibration (see below).
 If the X-ray unit is equipped with option Full-reverse mode, set the scanning direction to standard (for-
ward) before selecting the calibration function (see section 1 - paragraph "How to work with the other
functions").
 If the X-ray unit is integrated into a baggage handling line or if it is equipped with safety switches* at the
conveyor ends and/or tunnel entrances and exits (conveyor end or oversize detectors* - option InLine
variant Start/Stop), on older units you possibly have to deactivate the InLine interface/the external con-
trol prior to selecting the calibration function (F 2-87). If the calibration menu is visible even without de-
activating the external control the deactivation is not necessary.

Warning!
Since the control signals of the baggage handling line or the safety switches are ignored when the
external control is deactivated, the feed or discharge conveyors and the conveyor of the X-ray unit
can run in opposite directions during the calibration! This can lead to a high risk of crushing
between the conveyor belts! See to it that nobody comes near the conveyors!
In case of conveyor end or oversize detectors baggage or freight items can fall off the conveyors
or get stuck at the tunnel entrances or exits! See to it that the conveyors have been cleared from
baggage and freight items!
 Use the navigator to go to menu item Calibration* in the Main menu and activ-
ate this menu item. The menu opposite is displayed.
 Activate the Material detection menu.
