Installing the Antenna
Procedure 3-1. Mounting a Roof Antenna and Connecting the Cable (Continued)

5. Slide the longer bolt of the lightning suppressor through the D-hole, and attach with a nut
and a washer (provided).

6. Install a 2.5 cm nonmetallic conduit from the antenna to the lightning suppressor, and from
the lightning suppressor to the cable entrance into the building.
7. Install a user-supplied bracket, preferably non-metallic, to support the vertical section of
conduit to the antenna.
8. Connect a cable to the antenna, route the cable through the conduit, and connect the cable
to the lightning suppressor.
9. Connect a cable to the lightning suppressor, route the cable through the conduit into the
building, and route the cable through the building to the TimeSource 3600 Shelf location.
10. If the lightning suppressor was not mounted directly to a valid earth ground, crimp a length
of 4.115 mm (6 AWG) ground cable to the two-hole terminal, slide the terminal over two of
the three threaded posts on the lightning suppressor mounting plate, and attach the
terminal to the mounting plate with two KEPS nuts. Use the two posts that allow the least
bending of the 4.115 mm (6 AWG) ground cable.
11. Attach the other end of the cable to a valid earth ground.
12. Install fire-stopping material in all holes opened in the roof and/or walls during this
procedure.
13. Check all connections for tightness to prevent arcing and intermittent operation.
14. Coat all exposed connectors with an electrically conductive antioxidant compound (e.g.,
Kopr-Shield spray).
