WEP:
Wired Equivalency
Privacy is a security protocol
defined in 802.11b.
commonly available for Wi-Fi
networks and was intended to
offer the equivalent security of
a wired network, however, it
has been found to be not as
secure as desired.
Operating at the data link and
physical layers, WEP does
not provide complete end-to-
end security.

Compression:
compression algorithm to the input data within the transmitting IP
Series does require that the corresponding decryption algorithm be
applied to the output data of the receiving IP Series to make it
meaningful.
Compression requires processing time. Depending on the nature of
the data, throughput may be either enhanced or not effected by the
compression process.
WEP 64-bit: Wired Equivalency Protocol (WEP) encryption adds
some overhead to the data, thereby negatively effecting throughput
to some degree.
