Enabling PSE Power

Use the Administration > PoE > PSE page to supply PoE power to Port 10.
Command Usage
This switch supports both the IEEE 802.3af PoE standards. To ensure that the
correct power is supplied to powered devices (PD) compliant with this
standard, a detection pulse is sent from Port 10 based on 802.3af to which an
attached 802.3af PD will respond normally. Afterwards, the switch exchanges
information with the PD such as duty-cycle, peak and average power needs.
Power can only be supplied to a PD from Port 10 if power is supplied to the
switch through the DC connector, or is the switch is receiving 30W of power
through another port from an IEEE 802.3at PoE source.
The switch only provides power to Port 10. It can supply up to 15.4W of power
to Port 10 (based on the IEEE 802.3af ).
If a device is connected to Port 10 and the switch detects that it requires more
than the power budget set for the port or to the overall switch, no power is
supplied to the device (i.e., port power remains off ).
Parameters
These parameters are displayed in the web interface:
Port – The port number on the switch.
Admin Status – Enables PoE power on Port 10. Power is automatically supplied
when a device is detected on Port 10, providing that the power demanded
does not exceed the switch or port power budget. (Default: Enabled)
Mode – Shows whether or not PoE power is being supplied to a port.
Web Interface
To set the PoE power budget for a port in the web interface:
1.
Click Administration, PoE, PSE.
2.
Select Configure Interface from the Step list.
3.
Enable PoE power on Port 10.
4.
Click Apply.
