Chapter 9: Troubleshooting

Heater

When you press the Heater button, the following screen appears.
Figure 67: The Heater Screen
The heater test is a test of the overall heater thermal control system. Initially, when the Heater button is set to
Off (gray color), the heater is Off and the reactor fan is On. When the Heater button is toggled On (orange color),
the heater is powered on using its normal heating profile. As the temperature of the heater approaches the
temperature set point, current to the heater is controlled using its usual PID control. The Heater button does not
cycle On/Off at this time because the heater thermal control system is active throughout.
The temperature should reach 355 °C within 120 seconds. The heater will stay on for about 3 minutes. The
reactor fan will start and stay on for 110 seconds. The Heater button will automatically toggle to the Off position
when cooling is complete. The heater should then cool to under 55 °C or less after 110 seconds. At this point the
button will change from orange to gray.
To stop the heater diagnostic, press the Back button. The heater may be hot if this is done before the cycle is
allowed to complete, however. To quickly cool the heater, press the Heater button from the Diagnostics menu to
activate the fan.
