DTC Troubleshooting - '00 Coupe w i t h Side Airbags (cont'd)
DTC 15-2; Faulty side airbag indicator light
circuit
1. Erace the DTC memory (see page 23-45).
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the
S R S indicator light comes on for about 6 seconds
and then goes off.
Does the SRS indicator light stay on?
Y E S - G o t o step 3.
NO— Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time.
Go to troubleshooting Intermittent Failures (see
page 23-45).
3. Make sure nothing is on the front passenger's seat.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the
side airbag indicator light comes on.
Does the side airbag indicator light come on?
Y E S - G o t o step 5.
N O - G o t o step 6.
5. Make sure the side airbag indicator light comes on
for 5 seconds and then goes off.
Does the side airbag indicator light go off?
Y E S - Faulty OPDS unit or S R S unit; replace the
OPDS unit. If the problem is still present, replace
the S R S unit.B
N O - G o t o step 36.
6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Check the No. 9 (7.5A) fuse in the driver's under-
dash fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK ?
Y E S - G o t o step 8.
N O - S h o r t t o No. 9 (7.5A) fuse related circuit; refer
to section 22 and continue troubleshooting. B
8. Check for a blown side airbag indicator bulb.
Is the side airbag indicator bulb OK?
Y E S - G o t o step 9.
NO —Blown side airbag indicator bulb; replace the
bulb.B
9. Disconnect OPDS unit connector D (8P) from the
OPDS unit (B).
10. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
11. Check for voltage between the No. 3 terminal of
OPDS unit connector D (8P) and body ground.
There should be battery voltage.

Is there battery voltage?
Y E S - G o t o step 12.
N O - G o t o step 24.
