DTC Troubleshooting - '01-02 Models
DTC 3-5: Short to ground In left side seat belt
tensioner
1. Erase the DTC m e m o r y (see page 23-45).
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the
SRS indicator light comes o n f o r about 6 seconds
and then goes off.
Does the SRS indicator light stay on?
Y E S - G o t o step 3.
NO— Intermittent failure, system is OK at this t i m e .
Go t o Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures (see
page 23-45).
3. Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the
battery negative cable, and w a i t for 3 minutes.
4. Disconnect the left side seat belt tensioner 2P
connector f r o m the left side w i r e harness 2P
connector (A).

5. Connect the special tool (2 0 connector) t o the left
side w i r e harness 2P connector.

6. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
7. Erase the DTC m e m o r y .
8. Read the DTC.
Is DTC 3-5 indicated?
Y E S - G o t o step 9.
NO—Short t o g r o u n d in left side seat belt
tensioner; replace the left side seat belt
(see page 23-4).•
9. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for
3 minutes.
10. Disconnect the left side w i r e harness 4P connector
C557 (A) f r o m the SRS main harness 4P connector.

11. Connect the special tool (2 Q connectors) to the
SRS main harness 4P connector.
12. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
13. Erase the DTC m e m o r y .
14. Read the DTC.
Is DTC 3-5 indicated?
Y E S - G o t o step 15.
NO—Short t o g r o u n d in the left side wire harness;
replace the left side w i r e h a r n e s s . •
15. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait f o r
3 minutes.
