ENGINE
GEARSHIFT FORK-GROOVE CLEARANCE
Using a thickness gauge, check the gearshift fork clearance in
the groove of its gear.
The clearance for each of the three gearshift forks plays an
important role in the smoothness and positiveness of shifting
action.
Gearshift fork-Groove clearance
Standard
0.10 - 0.30 mm (0.004 - 0.012 in)
Service Limit: 0.50 mm (0.020 in)
If the clearance checked is noted to exceed the limit speci ­
fied, replace the fork or its gear, or both.

ENGINE REASSEMBLY
The engine is reassembled by carrying out the steps of disassembly in the reversed order, but there are
a number of steps which demand special descriptions or precautionary measures.
NOTE:
Apply engine oil to each running and sliding part before reassembling.
