Setting the SmartSlice I/O Terminals

This section tells you how to install, connect, and set a SmartSlice I/O Termi-
nal.
You install a SmartSlice I/O Terminal on DIN Track.
Refer to 3-1 Installing a SmartSlice I/O Terminal on page 22 for information on
how to install a SmartSlice I/O Terminal.
Use this procedure to connect the SmartSlice I/O Terminal.
1. Connecting the Communications Cables
You connect the communications cable for the CompoNet network to the com-
munications connector on the CompoNet Communications Unit.
Refer to 4-1 Connecting the Communications Cables on page 30 for the con-
nection procedure.
2. Connecting the Unit Power Supply
Connect a 24-VDC power supply for the internal circuits of the CompoNet
Communications Unit and SmartSlice I/O Units to the Unit power supply ter-
minals on the CompoNet Communications Unit.
3. Connecting the I/O Power Supply
Connect a 24-VDC power supply for the outputs connected to SmartSlice
Output Units to the I/O power supply terminals on the CompoNet Communica-
tions Unit.
Refer to 4-2 Connecting the Power Supply Cables on page 31 for the connec-
tion procedure.
4. Connecting the External Devices
Connect the I/O signal lines from the external devices (in this example, the
switch and lamp) to the I/O terminals on the SmartSlice I/O Units.
Refer to 4-5 Connecting the Signal Lines for External Devices on page 38 for
the connection procedure.
Use this procedure to set the SmartSlice I/O Terminal.
1. Setting the Node Addresses
Set the rotary switches on the CompoNet Communications Unit to the node
address of the SmartSlice I/O Terminal on the CompoNet network.
• Do not set the same node address for more than one node.
• Turn OFF the Unit power supply before you change the node address setting.
Refer to 5-1 Setting the Node Addresses on page 40 for the setting proce-
dure.
