Doing a Check of the Backup Results

Note
The backup function saves the parameters from the SmartSlice I/O Units to
memory in the CompoNet Communications Unit.
If you back up the parameters, you can use the automatic restore function to
download the parameters in the CompoNet Communications Unit to the
SmartSlice I/O Units. This is useful when you replace SmartSlice I/O Units.
We recommend that you back up the parameters at a set interval to prevent
losing the parameter for SmartSlice I/O Unit failures.

Turn pin 4 OFF and

or pin 2 is ON.
The CompoNet Communications
Unit will back up the parameters
from all Slice I/O Units.
These conditions are necessary to back up the parameters. Do a check of
these conditions before you back up the parameters.
• Pin 1 (REGS) or pin 2 (I/O) on the DIP switch on the CompoNet Commu-
nications Unit must be ON.
• All SmartSlice I/O Units must be participating in communications (to back
up the parameters for all SmartSlice I/O Units at one time).
Turn pin 4 (BACK) OFF and then ON in 3 seconds.

The CompoNet Communications Unit will start to back up the parameters.
• Do not turn OFF the power supply or reset the CompoNet Communications
Unit from the CX-Integrator during the backup operation. The backup data will
not be correct.
The TS indicator on the CompoNet Communications Unit flashes green dur-
ing the backup operation. The backup operation is completed when the TS
indicator goes OFF.
If the CompoNet Communications Unit could not back up the parameters, the
TC indicator will come ON in red for 2 seconds.
(1) To clear the backup data, reset the Unit power supply with pin 1 turned
OFF. This operation will clear the Registration Table and the backup data.
