Configuring Channels

Once the channel group is established, channels can be assigned to it. A channel is one individual
voice and/or data path within a channel group. Channels are configured after channel groups are
allocated.
The following types of channels can be configured within each channel group.
To configure channels, perform the following steps.
1. Choose a channel group for the channel (one that has the same endpoints and desired
2. Make sure that the channel has two compatible channel endpoints. Compatible channel
3. Execute the Change Channel Configuration (chcc) command to define and configure (or
4. Execute the Make Channel Connection (mkcc) command to connect the channel, or more

To make sure that the channel group where the channel is being configured has adequate
bandwidth, execute the Channel Group Summary (cgs) command to see how much
bandwidth (capacity) was allocated to the channel group. If no bandwidth has been
allocated to the channel group, execute the Make Channel Group Connection (mkcgc)
command to do so.
Execute the Channel Summary (cs) command for one of the channel group's endpoints.
Add the rates of all the connected channels in the channel group. Subtract the total rates of
all connected channels from the channel group's capacity. The difference is the channel
group's available bandwidth.

successful completion of the configuration request, or leave the channel in an idle state.

Display Channel Configuration (dscc) command to display the parameters of the channel
endpoints. This allows you to make sure that you have configured the channel correctly.
