To connect the ASCII terminal to the multiplexer, perform the following steps:
1. Connect one end of the cable to the modem port on the terminal.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to one of the NAPs on the multiplexer.
3. Turn on the terminal.
4. Turn on the multiplexer.
5. PRESS: Enter
6. Go to Configuring Network Administration Ports (NAPs) to continue the configuration

Connecting a PC

Instead of a terminal, you can connect a PC to configure the multiplexer(s) to communicate with
the NMS host computer. However, a terminal emulator must be run on a PC so that the PC can be
used as an ASCII terminal. Two emulator programs are suggested: a VT-100 terminal emulator
(the other selection under the SCX menu) and CTRM.
Make sure the following parameters are set on the PC:
You need an EIA RS-232 (DB-25) cable to connect the PC to the multiplexer(s).
To connect a PC to the multiplexer, perform the following steps:
1. Connect one end of the cable to the serial port on the PC.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to one of the NAPs on the multiplexer.
3. Turn on the PC and invoke the terminal emulator program.
