Dialog Windows

Dialog windows appear in response to particular actions or selections. These windows ask for
specific data entry and are closed by the system when the requested action is complete.

Main Menu Bar

The Main Menu Bar is located at the top of the MRT Screen (see Figure 1-2) and has four buttons,
Table, Edit, Misc, and Help. Each initiate pull-down menus. The first three menus provide the
various functions of the MRT Utility. The Help menu provides limited information on the MRT
and its functions.

The Help menu contains a single function, About, which provides basic information about the
MRT Utility.

Select Source/Dest. – specifies the source or destination of subsequent Table menu
functions. The choices are Network and Routing Table File.
Generate – creates a new routing table for a given node based on an NMS algorithm
minimizing hops and based on the network as defined in the NMS facility profiles.
Retrieve – gets a routing table for a specified node and loads it for modification into the
MRT.
Save – copies a selected routing table to either the network or a file.
Save All – is similar to Save except that all loaded routing tables are copied.
Print Routing Table – prints a selected routing table to the system printer.
Print Status Log – prints all the accumulated messages stored in the status log to the system
printer.
Quit – exits the Manage Routing Table Utility.
Delete Routing Table – removes the selected routing table from the MRT Utility.
Trim Entries – reduces the size of a selected routing table according to specified criteria.
Insert Entry – adds a destination node entry to a selected routing table.
Delete Entry – removes a destination node and all its associated links from a selected
routing table.
Node Info – displays a dialog window containing information on the node whose routing
table is currently selected.
Entry Info – displays a dialog window showing each link in the selected destination node
entry with the link's associated hop count, that is, the minimum number of intermediate
links between the routing table node and the entry destination node.
