Channel Diagnostics

Channel diagnostics consists of tests and status reports primarily for voice and data channels
(including DS1 channels) and their associated hardware. Table 1-12 lists the commands available
for channel diagnostics. The table contains the command abbreviation, a brief description of what
the command does, what results are displayed, and whether or not the executed command disrupts
NMS operation.

Description
Places a channel's
endpoints into a loopback
state, transmits a test
bitblock through the loop
and counts the number of
errors that occur during
transmission; or releases
the channel endpoints from
such a state.
Places voice, data, or DS0
on a 740/74x-56K into
loopback state; places
DS0 channel on 745 into
loopback state at the TSI;
or releases the loopback
state.
Sends a loopback code to
the OCU, DSU interface on
a DDS channel. It can also
send a loopback code to
an external CSU.
Places a specified local
channel's endpoints into a
loop back state, transmits
ten 8-bit characters
through the loop, and
counts resulting errors.
Displays the current state
of the control signals on a
specified data, voice, or
DS0 channel on a
740/74x-56K, or DS0
channel on a 745.
Runs hardware diagnostics
on a specified channel
endpoint and its
associated channel
modules.
Results
Displays requested state
and the number of errors
per total number of bits
transmitted. To see results
exit command, then
execute again while test is
in progress.
Displays requested state
and indicates if the
command was
successfully completed.

Test results are expressed
as pass or fail.
Lists the control signals
particular to the specified
channel and the current
state of each signal.
