Selecting a Routing Table

To select a routing table from the Node Selection List, click on the desired node in the Node
Selection List.
The selected node identifier in the Node Selection List changes to reverse video and appears in the
Current Node field in the Routing Table Information Area. The routing table for the selected node
appears in the Routing Table Editing Area.

Editing a Routing Table

Edit routing tables by inserting or deleting destination nodes and by inserting or deleting links in
the link list for a destination node. When a destination node is inserted, it has an empty link list.
The link list is deleted when the destination node is deleted. The MRT has no explicit Undo
command. Please refer to the section Undoing Editing Changes.
Clicking the mouse with the cursor pointing to the link list area selects the area for insertion or
deletion. The link list area is outlined and the I-bar is placed at the right-hand end of the link list.
To place the I-bar at another position in the link list, point the cursor at the desired place and click
the mouse. The blinking I-bar appears at that point.
A whole area of text can be selected for deletion or replacement by pointing the cursor, pressing
the left-hand mouse button and holding it down, and dragging the cursor over the text to be
selected. When the mouse button is released, the area of text is selected.
Links added to or modified in a destination node entry are validated based on the device type of the
current node. If a link entered fails the validation, an error dialog box appears. Click the
Acknowledge button in the box to return to editing the link list.
The following procedures assume that you have selected a routing table from the Routing Table
Selection List and it is displayed in the Routing Table Editing Area.
To insert a new node in a routing table, perform the following steps:
1. Select Insert Entry from the Edit pull-down menu.
1-54
b. To retrieve routing tables for particular nodes, place the cursor to the right of the
specification all.
The I-bar appears in the node field.
Backspace over the default node specification and
TYPE: the node or nodes for which you want to retrieve routing tables (separate
multiple nodes by commas)
Click on the OK button.
The Status Message Area shows several messages as the routing tables are retrieved,
finishing with Operation Complete. The node identifiers are displayed in the Node
Selection List.
The Destination Node(s) window appears (see Figure 1-6). This window displays a list of
nodes not present in the routing table.
