Physical Link Diagnostics

Physical link diagnostics consists of tests for physical (T1 and 56K) links and their associated
hardware. Table 1-13 lists the commands available for these tests. The table contains the command
abbreviation, a brief description of what the command does, what results are displayed, and
whether the executed command disrupts NMS operation.

Description
Displays current status of
an aggregate link interface
module or a DS1 link
interface module.
Reports the diagnostic
state, such as bert or local
loopback, for a specified
channel, DS1 channel, or
physical link.
Activates/deactivates the
external CSU loopback at
the remote end of a
physical facility from the
local end; instructs the
local multiplexer to send
an unframed loop-up code,
which places the remote
link into loopback, or a
loop-down code, which
takes the remote link out of
the loopback.
Toggles (on and off)
internal/ external
aggregate loopbacks on
740/74x-56K, internal/
external DS1 loopbacks
on 745s, and internal/
external CSU loopbacks
on 740/74x-56K and 745s.
Runs a hardware
diagnostic test on a
specified
aggregate link module or
an internal test on a DS1
link module.
Results
Lists all status parameters
with current status.
Lists the diagnostic state
(active or inactive) of the
specified channel or
physical link.
Lists the origin and
destination of the loop-up
or loop-down code and if
the command executed
successfully or not. If not,
an error message displays.
Displays whether or not
the command was
completed successfully.
Test results are expressed
as pass or fail.
