Configuring Multiplexers
One local 74x multiplexer and one 719 NETWORKER (Figure 2-2). If only one 74x
multiplexer is used at the local site, a 719 NETWORKER can be used to multiplex the event
and external systems access over a single supervisory data link (SDL). The event and
external systems connections enter the 719 NETWORKER via channel ports. The SDL exits
the 719 NETWORKER through a link and connects to one of the 74x NAPs. The second
74x NAP is devoted to the command port. You must configure each 74x NAP and
719 NETWORKER channel via the multiplexers' software menus.
Figure 2-2. Connections for One Local 74x Multiplexer and One 719 NETWORKER
An ACCULINK multiplexer connected to a 719 NETWORKER version 3.1b or greater
(Figure 2-3). NAP 1 at node 1, configured as an SDL port, provides the primary
control-access interface point for the NMS to control the network. A 719 NETWORKER,
connected to SDL NAP 1, provides an event-reporting, command port and menu interface to
the NMS.
Figure 2-3 shows the 719 NETWORKER connections.
