Be sure that the preload has been set correctly
before adjusting the damping force.

a. Turn the key to "ON".
b. Push the menu switch "MENU" "1" to switch
the function display "2" to the damping force
adjusting function "3".

c. Use the select switch "4" to select "HARD",
"STD" or "SOFT" "5".

2. Adjust:
• Damping force setting level

a. Push the menu switch "MENU".
b. Use the select switch "1" to select the desired
level "2" for the damping force setting.

TIP
The damping force setting can be set to 7 levels
(+3, +2, +1, 0, -1, -2 and -3). "+3" is the hardest
level and "-3" is the softest level.
c. Push the menu switch "MENU".

damping force, the information display will
change to the display mode.

CHECKING THE REAR SUSPENSION

1. Stand the vehicle on a level surface.

WARNING
Securely support the vehicle so that there is
no danger of it falling over.
2. Check:
• Rear shock absorber assembly
Gas leaks/oil leaks → Replace the rear shock
absorber assembly.
Refer to "REAR SHOCK ABSORBER AS-
SEMBLY (FJR13AG)" on page 4-118 and
"REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY
(FJR13ESG)" on page 4-123.
3. Check:
• Rear shock absorber assembly operation
• Rear suspension link pivots
Push down seat on the vehicle several times
and check if the rear shock absorber assem-
bly rebounds smoothly.
Rough movement → Repair.
Refer to "REAR SHOCK ABSORBER AS-
SEMBLY (FJR13AG)" on page 4-118 and
"REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY
(FJR13ESG)" on page 4-123.
