Installing DIP RAM and SIP Modules
The NEATsx uses DIP DRAM chips and SIP modules on the
main board. All chips require proper orientation when they are in­
stalled. DIP DRAM chips have a curved notch, a dot, or both at one
end. This must be matched to the corresponding notch in the chip
socket when the chip is installed. Aligning the notches correctly ori­
ents the chip.
The DRAM sockets on the board are standard notched sockets.
To install chips, place the NEATsx board on a stable surface. Be very
careful to safeguard against static electricity damage when installing
chips. Install the chips individually as follows:
• Align the notches of the chip and socket
As you place the chip into the socket make sure the notched
end of the chip is at the uneven side of the socket.
