The 206 Chip
The 82C206 Integrated Peripherals controller contains the
CMOS RAM that stores the configuration information created by the
setup programs. It has the following features. The chip has the follow­
ing functions:
• Programmable 8/10 Mhz DMA capability
• Programmable DMA Wait States
• Fast I/O Recovery Time
• Additional 64 bytes of CMOS RAM

ROM BIOS

All microcomputer systems use a Basic Input Output System.
This is software that has been permanently recorded in a ROM (Read
Only Memory) chip and functions as the fundamental point of com­
munication between the system board and the rest of the computer.
