Page/Iinterleave Memory
Memory access for the NEATsx can be through single bank
page mode or page/interleave page mode, 2-way or 4-way. Page/inter-
leave means information stored in the memory subsystem is divided
up, some of it going to one bank and some to another. This allows
faster memory access than single bank page mode.
In order for the system to perform interleaving, at least two
banks must be filled. Therefore, a minimum of 1MB of RAM is neces
sary for the NEATsx to utilize this feature. Memory interleaving is a
special feature of the NEATsx that is setup before you receive the
board. It is built into the board, and is not user selectable.
A chart in the QuickSet program and in the Quickset section of
this manual displays which memory configurations will be inter
leaved. Since interleaving maximizes the performance of a system, it's
best to install a memory configuration that allows interleaving. Check
the Quickset section for more information.
