(4) How to measure direction
・Keep the watch level, and direct the 12
o'clock position of the watch (▲ mark on the
case) toward the direction you wish to find.
・Direction measurement is made every 2
seconds for 30 seconds and stops. After 30
seconds, "- - - -" is shown.
・To restart measurement, press Button Ⓔ.
※If the alarm sounds during the direction measurement,
the measurement is stopped. In that case, press
Button Ⓔ to restart measurement.
(5) Magnetic north and true north
・Magnetic compass points to the magnetic north and magnetic south due to the
magnetism of the earth. However, the magnetic north and south deviate from the
true geographic north and south, and the amount of deviation varies from region to
region on the earth.
・The deviation in each region is called magnetic declination, and Compass mode of
the watch can indicate the true north and south if the direction measured by the
built-in magnetic sensor is corrected by the amount of the magnetic declination of
your region.
・The magnetic declination correction values of each region on the earth can be
obtained from a map, the website of the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan,
or other sources.
