Range of display: Between -699 and 9,164 m/between -2,290 and 30,065 ft Current time ※The interval of measurement and display differs depending on whether the Field Mode REC function is turned on or off (see "How to Use Field Mode REC function" on P. 142). (3) Altitude calibration, Drift Cancel, and unit of measure setting • Altitude calibration The Altimeter mode of this watch calculates altitude based on atmospheric pressure. Measurement error may result, therefore, if atmospheric pressure and temperature change due to weather change or any other reason. Before using the Altimeter mode or turning on the Field Mode REC function, calibrate the Altimeter at a place with a known altitude. Altitude information can be obtained from a map, the Internet, and other sources.

(4) Climbing speed ・Climbing speed is the altitude ascended or descended in an hour, and indicated in m/h or ft/h. ・The most recent ascent or descent is converted to the altitude change in an hour. ・The indication is updated every 10 seconds. ・It is displayed at the top row of the Altimeter display. ※Climbing speed is an important index to estimate whether it is possible to reach a target point before the scheduled time. Knowing your average climbing speed is helpful to calculate the time required to complete the route, making it possible to enjoy safe and comfortable trekking. (5) How to restart altitude measurement ・The Altimeter mode measures the altitude in 10-second intervals. To start new measurement immediately, press Button Ⓔ.
(6) Mechanism of altitude measurement ・This watch estimates altitude from atmospheric pressure based on the relationship between altitude and atmospheric pressure of the International Standard Atmosphere specified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). ・On the basis of the altitude calibrated at a place with a known altitude, the change in atmospheric pressure measured is converted to the change in altitude, and the current altitude is calculated and displayed. In the illustration below, the altitude is calibrated at a starting place of ascent etc. (200 m). Then, the difference in altitude (400 m) is measured based on the atmospheric pressure change caused by ascent, and is added to the calibrated value to display the altitude after ascent (600 m). ・Because change in atmospheric pressure is converted into altitude, altitude display may vary according to atmospheric pressure change even if altitude measurement is made at the same place. 600m (Current altitude = Calibrated value + Measured value) Signpost etc. Measurement Hight above 200m (400m) sea level Calibration Sea level [CAUTION] Correct measurements cannot be made under the following conditions: ・When atmospheric pressure has changed significantly due to weather change; ・When temperature has changed significantly ; and ・When the watch has received a strong shock.
How to Use Barometer/Thermometer Mode ・Atmospheric pressure and temperature are measured and displayed. ・The units of measure for atmospheric pressure and temperature can be changed over between hectopascal ("hPa") and inch of mercury ("inHg"), and between Celsius ("℃") and Fahrenheit ("℉"), respectively. ※Setting of the units of measure can also be made in the application. By pressing and holding Button Ⓕ to perform Bluetooth communication, the settings made in the application take effect in the watch. Note that those settings will not be transmitted to the watch through automatic synchronization. (1) Buttons and functions ・Press Button Ⓐ to show the Barometer/Thermometer mode. [Caution] • Temperature measurement is affected by bodily temperature and direct sunlight. When measuring outside air temperature, remove the watch from your wrist, leave it untouched for a while, and, then, start measurement at a place where it is not exposed to direct sunlight. • If the watch is placed under the running water from a faucet, very high water pressure is applied to it. The measurement accuracy of the built-in pressure sensor degrades temporarily, and the measurement values of altitude and atmospheric pressure may fluctuate. If such occurred, wait for about 10 minutes until the measurement accuracy of the sensor recovers, and then, start altitude measurement again. (2) Explanation of display Atmospheric pressure tendency graph: Atmospheric pressure is automatically measured every hour and atmospheric pressure tendency is displayed in a graph format. A flashing dot of the graph indicates the latest measurement.
※Atmospheric pressure changes as altitude changes. Atmospheric pressure tendency cannot be measured accurately when significant changes in altitude occur such as when you are ascending and descending a mountain. When using the atmospheric pressure tendency graph, stay for sometime at a place such as a mountaineering lodge to avoid altitude change. ※When atmospheric pressure is decreasing, the weather will change for the worse (Ex. 1), and when it is increasing, the weather will improve (Ex. 2). ※If atmospheric pressure changes significantly due to a significant change in altitude, rapid change of weather and/or temperature, a part of the atmospheric pressure data may deviate from the display range of the graph (Ex. 3). Ex. 1: Decreasing tendency Ex. 2: Increasing tendency Ex. 3: Out of display range (3) How to restart measurement ・Atmospheric pressure/temperature measurement is started when the Barometer/Thermometer mode is shown, and the measurement results are kept displayed for 30 seconds before "- - - -" is displayed.
(4) How to change units of measure ① Press and hold Button Ⓓ to activate the unit of measure setting function. The display for setting atmospheric pressure unit appears, and "hPA" or "inHG" starts flashing in the top row. ② Press Button Ⓒ or Ⓔ to set the unit of measure of atmospheric pressure. ※When the unit of measure is changed, the atompspheric pressure value is converted to the new unit of measure. ③ Pressing Button Ⓑ shows the display for setting temperature unit. "℃" or "℉" starts flashing in the top row. Press Button Ⓒ or Ⓔ to set the unit of measure of temperature. ※When the unit of measure is changed, the temperature value is converted to the new unit of measure. ④ After all the settings are completed, press Button Ⓓ to deactivate the setting function. If the watch is left untouched with the digits flashing, the display automatically returns to the Barometer/Thermometer in 2 to 3 minutes.
